Working in residential aged care, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know the most dedicated, selfless and kindhearted humans.
They are wives visiting their husbands every day to help out with lunch. They are husbands having afternoon tea with their wives while looking through old photographs. They are sisters and brothers who have put their needs aside to look after their siblings.
They are sons coming over after work to go for a walk with dad. They are daughters bringing mum fresh flowers every week to make her smile.
They are people who continue to be involved in their loved ones’ care. They’ve made personal sacrifices to support the needs of their loved ones.
They are carers who show up not out of obligation but out of love.
